I’ve just spent a glorious 12 days in Portugal. If you’re thinking to yourself:
Didn’t you just go there in February?
Aren’t you still in credit card debt?
Didn’t you just go there in February?
The answer, to all two of those questions, is yes. As of this writing I am down from over $20,000 to $9,300 of credit card debt (!) which I am proud to have done while saving for the things that are important to me. Like traveling to Portugal twice in one year.
Why Portugal twice and not some other place? Well, first of all, if you’ve been there, you likely already know the answer. Everything about the four places I’ve now visited (Lisbon, Porto, Lagos & Sintra) was magical and only matched by the warmth of the people who live there.
It also happens to be (for now) a great place to travel on a budget. Of course, you could go there and spend plenty of money. But you don’t have to. I had one of the best meals — and some of the best shrimps — I’ve ever eaten in my life in Lisbon last week, and the whole thing set me back about $12.
It’s in that spirit that I’ve decided to share my Portugal itinerary and tips with you, which includes options for both when you’re on a budget or not.
I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you let me know if you ever find yourself at any of these incredible places!
XO,
Jamie AF
