Greetings, loved ones. Welcome to another (and potentially the last) Friday Night Likes of the year.
“But it’s only the third one!” “How will we know what you LIKE next week?!??!!”
Well guess what, punks. It’s the last day of Hannukah which means it’s the end of my year. Thanks, Judaism!
Just kidding. But I can assure you that if there is something worth sharing between now and the end of the year that is not eating, drinking, sitting on a couch under my Costco blanket or watching the same movies I’ve seen 400 times, you will hear about it.
December is just a weird ass month. I haven’t had this many social engagements since, well, last December. Things are moving so quickly that it’s hard to even remember what the things I like even are.
But I have managed to wrangle together a few for you, here. I hope they bring you joy and / or laughter and / or are helpful.
I love you. Maybe I’ll see you here next week. It’s a surprise.
Meal prep egg wraps
My TikTok algorithm is now just about dogs and protein-packed meals. I am not complaining. I’ve seen a bunch of people making freezer-egg wraps and sandwiches in recent weeks. An old version of me would have watched, liked, and kept on living my life. But I’m a NEW me. Who meal preps. So I tried it.
I cooked up some liquid egg whites with spinach and a little bit of cheddar cheese, then wrapped them up in these Trader Joe’s wraps. Then I wrapped each one in parchment paper and stored them in the freezer. I made five.
Each morning, I take one with me in my bag and by the time I want to have breakfast, it’s defrosted. Then, I either pop it in the toaster or in a pan depending on if I’m home or not. 10/10.

As I evaluate my relationship with social media and find myself wanting to spend less time on it (not successfully, but still) I now aspire to have the same kind of “following” as this guy.
Fish Friday
One day per week, Acme Fish, which you may know from their ubiquity in the smoked fish sections of grocery stores or giant tubs of perfect whitefish salad at Costco, opens the doors of its headquarters to us mere mortals to get our hands on its fine array of appetizing appetizings, like pastrami smoked salmon, nova smoked salmon, so many smoked salmons and so many other things, too.
Even better, since 2020 they launched online ordering, so you can order ahead of time and come pick it up in Brooklyn on Friday mornings. It’s a fun (and delicious) way to start the weekend and we picked some up just in time to have a post-Hannukah-Hannukah dinner this weekend.
The balaclava my mom made me
A few months ago I sent my mom a picture of a crocheted balaclava from a Facebook ad I saw and asked if she could make something like it. She DELIVERED. Look at how cute this thing is.
I am trying to convince her to start an Etsy shop. If you’re interested in buying one let me know!
Martha Stewart talking about being recently ‘knocked off her socks.’
Martha Stewart sitting on Drew Barrymore’s couch petting a dog is enough of a treat. But hearing Martha Stewart talk about getting her “socks knocked off” recently to a captivated Drew is even more delightful. Like Drew I am not “lvingin that life,” but I think we could all stand to be living a little bit more like Martha.
OK, that’s all. Love you! See you on Monday!

Oh... I definitely misread the title and was very confused when the picture of what your mom made you wasn't that of a beautifully layered phyllo dough, honey, and nuts 🤣
please set up her etsy shop because yes, we need it
