Hello!!!
Greetings from New York City, where we are here:
Despite the fact that it’s colder in New York right now than it was in January/February, there are still plenty of things to like about this week. They are:
My new Owala Water Bottle
I don’t even want to tell anyone about this water bottle. But that would be wildly hypocritical because Rachel is the one who told me about it a week ago. So now I’m telling you.
Last week I lost my water bottle. It was a massive, metal, clunker of a drinking vessel that made an offensively loud sound when toppled over which it constantly was, either by my feet at work or by my feet in pilates class.
I quickly realized that I’d left it, and I knew exactly where I’d left it. And yet, I was comfortable with deeming it lost. I’d had enough of that stupid water bottle.
Having a specific water bottle shouldn’t make a difference when it comes to water intake. But it does. It really, really, does. And this one, by Owala, makes a huge one.
There’s something about the shape of this bottle, the ease of opening and closing it and most importantly the built in, hidden straw, that makes drinking water a real pleasure. 10/10.
Getting my taxes done in the Bronx
“Why do you get your taxes done in the Bronx?” Is a question I fielded multiple times this week. It’s a good question, seeing as I live in Brooklyn, and each year when it’s time to go there I find myself asking the same thing.
But besides the fact that I like the man who does my taxes, this year I realized there’s another reason: proximity to Arthur Avenue. This year, I stopped there as a post-taxes treat and stocked up on, well, a bunch of treats! Treats like olives, cheese, cured meat, OLIVE BREAD, and cookies.
And now I can say with full confidence that I recommend getting your taxes done in the Bronx.
Perfect Days
Ohhhhhhmyyyyyyygggoooododddddnddnnenneeeeesssssssssssssss. I have so many feelings about this Oscar-nominated Japanese entry for Best International Feature Film. So beautifully made. So quietly elegant. So inconspicuously moving. As usual, I don’t want to say too much about something you may have not seen yet. So just see it. If you live in Brooklyn, see it at BAM.
New York City, baby. Have you heard of it?
Recently I was driving back into New York from Long Island and I remarked on how beautiful the skyline was to which my friends replied “you like, really love New York,” and I thought to myself, huh. I really do love New York. Does it suck in many ways? Yes! But there are so many reasons to love New York. So many fun things to do and foods to eat and walks to be walked! I love other cities, and have even thought about moving to some of them, but the truth is I really just love New York the best.
Even during Third Winter.
Have great weekends, friends!
XO,
Jamie AF
